The Tipton R-VI School District seeks a Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) for the 2024-2025 school year. The SLP provides speech and language therapy to students in grades K-12 with consideration of individual abilities so these students will develop as mature, able, and responsible citizens who can communicate effectively. The SLP works as a member of the special services team to provide both direct and consultative services.
The Successful Candidate will:
- Provide direct and related services in communication as necessary.
- Plan, provide, and share with the regular education teachers accommodations and modifications for individual students.
- Work collaboratively with the general and special education teachers in and outside the classroom.
- Participate as part of a team to evaluate and re-evaluate students including testing, observation, and placement.
- Plan collaboratively with parents, the student, and other members of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team to develop the IEP.
- Implement the IEP.
- Monitor individual student progress and behavior.
- Document and report progress on IEP goals.
- Conducts ongoing parent-teacher contacts/communications, including parent/teacher dialogues.
- Reads, discusses and uses current developments in the field of speech pathology.
- Keeps abreast of current developments in their field and continues to deepen their understanding of their discipline(s).
- Develop IEPs, interventions, and/or educational materials to minimize the adverse impact of communication delays in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Instruct eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies for the purpose of minimizing the adverse educational impact of communication delays in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
- Interprets medical reports within the scope of the Speech/Language Pathologist's experience and goals for the purpose of providing information and/or ensuring that treatment/intervention plans are appropriate for school therapy.
- Maintains files and/or records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and/or compliance.
- Prepares a wide variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written references, and/or conveying information.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested.
